I am undecided....Need some outside input

After some close inspection of the paint on the C10, the previous owner did not remove the window seals or any of the rubber for that matter when painting the truck

I have considered doing the cab a little retro with the white roof, this would allow me to remove the windows and fix the crappy work that was done and save a few bucks. I am interested on what others think of the white roof retro look:

Thanks for your input, and be honest! I can go either way with this, I like both looks.

Re: I am undecided....Need some outside input

I'm going with one next spring when it's warm enough outside to paint, but I'll only be doing above and behind the drip rail.

I think your truck would look great.

Re: I am undecided....Need some outside input

I love the white tops, if going for a classy original look, and a set of white letter tires. Its whats on my chevelle, as rusted and beat up as it is, it still looks pretty going down the road.

Go white top with a chrome strip diving the layers.

Thats my imput, either way its a nice truck.

Re: I am undecided....Need some outside input

I really like this look. It looks retro, and it breaks up the color a bit.
Here's my brother's 71 stepside, finished last summer.

Re: I am undecided....Need some outside input

I am a solid color guy My truck was a two tone when I bought it but originally it was solid blue and I will be painting it soon in one color. I thought I'd like the two tone look, but I don't. I think your truck looks best in the solid orange color.

I also have a 71 stepside, is this a factory color for 71? I plan to paint mine a factory green with white top.

BACKYARD88,

Yes it's factory. It's Medium Olive Poly. Can't remember the code.

Re: I am undecided....Need some outside input

looking at your photos, I think it looks better with the white roof. Mine used to be liek that, but I didn't think it would look good in the semi-gloss black with a white roof... although, it was semi gloss too courtocy of mother nature and lack of waxing.

Re: I am undecided....Need some outside input

My opinion is not to just paint the roof. I like the way Chip Foose did the 69-72 chevy truck on overhaulin'. But that is just me. I don't have a pic but maybe somebody on here will chime in and post one.

I say paint the roof white, and add a bunch of red metal flake in it

I like white tops.I think your truck looks best all red.It has that "hot truck" look with that color, those wheels,no trim/smooth lines.

Re: I am undecided....Need some outside input

i think it looks good both ways but ofcourse its gona come down to what you like the most, just do some research and look up pictures of more trucks like yours with and without the white top and look at the different ways they did the white top and see what you like the most and i honestly dont think doing it either way will take away from it thats for sure

Re: I am undecided....Need some outside input

Brian - I normally like a white roof truck. Actually, I'm a big fan of the two tone white center on these trucks. But I gotta say, yours looks real nice with the solid color and no trim.

On the other hand, if the paint bothers you now (and you've only had the truck for a month), then you need to do something about it. White roof or re-spray the doors.

Re: I am undecided....Need some outside input

I agree with the non white roof folks, I have thought long and hard about it and I think I am going to take Tex's recommendations and fix the problem. Its really not THAT bad, just at the windshield seal, and back window seal. I dont think the white roof will look right on this set up. The Viper red just POPS out at you in person.
