Frame Help

I have a SWB 62 truck that I'm starting a quick restoration on. I also have a 1985 Chevy LWB parts truck for it's front suspension and a nice 63 big window cab, media blasted, and metal work complete.

Now for my question. I want to use my 63 cab and ditch the 60-62 suspension. Am I better off finding a 63-66 frame and add the suspension? Or will a 67-72 frame work with a 63 Cab? Is it possible to use a 73 and up frame with the 63 Cab?

I don't mind modifying the frame some to get the cab to fit. I'm just looking for the quickest and most cost effective way to get this done.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Frame Help

I Think The 67-72 Frame Would Be Better.you Will Definitly Have To Relocate Some Body Mounts, But That Shoulnt Be To Difficult.

Re: Frame Help

I wonder how many, if not all, of the mounts I would have to relocate?

What part of Louisiana are you from?

Re: Frame Help

I think just the cab mounts, but not 100% positive. I'm in Central City right outside Baton Rouge.

Re: Frame Help

If you put the 63 cab on the 62 frame you will have to change the front cab mounts, rear ones should be the same. I'm doing the exact opposite right now (62 cab on a 63 frame). I think you would be better off finding a 63 or later frame IMHO.

Re: Frame Help

I am kinda in the same boat but I am probably going to cut the tranny crossmember off and take the front suspension off and bolt up 73 + parts and go from there

Re: Frame Help

Well, I've decided to use the 62 frame and just make the adjustments that are needed.

I tore apart the truck today and found more rust than I really expected. I'm going to have to repair the frame before I send it to be powder coated.
