Post Favorite Ratchet Shifter????

took the truck for a spin tonight with the new and improved top end, and decided right away that trying to shift an auto trans on the column and hit the right gear every time when your foot is on the floor won't work. looking at the B&M StarShifter & MegaShifter
or QuickSilver, or the Hurst V-Matic 2. anybody have any of these shifters??? likes/dislikes??? ease of operation?????

I have the hurst v-matic....I love it..it takes a little getting used to..the pushing down the handle from reverse to drive still confuses me ..lol..the wife has no prob with it though...the rachet part is great..I like that it works either as a full race rachet or an everyday driver..easy install

Well since you are looking to get a great shifter, then you do not want the QuickSilver shifter, I had one of these Pieces of ****s in my truck and I hated it because it had problems w/ springs popping off of the base and then the shifter would not let the transmission get into any gear but Reverse!! I replaced my quicksilver w/ a Megashifter and Damn this is the best thing I ever did because now, no more problems w/ springs popping off since there is only 1 spring and that is for the Reverse Lock out lever. I like the fact w/ the Megashifter, you can use it on either 3 speed autos and 4 speed autos, Ratchet Mode is so easy to use because once it is in Drive, just click it back to 1st gear, and Floor it.. You can hit the shifter as hard as you can and it will not break.

I have a B&M truck mega shifter in my 69 short step. I love it. It's been there for 5 years now and I kick the crap out of it. best investment I made in a shifter. But I changing to a 4-spd so it will be coming out. Might be persuaded to sell it if the price is right.

I had a truck megashifter, didnt like it.
Broke the mountings to the floor, broke 1 cable. Wouldnt ratchet right, it would stick somewhere between gears at times.

This thread is almost 5 years old! I've never heard of a ratcheting column shifter, not sure why you would even want one.

Re: Favorite Ratchet Shifter????

For the same reason that ratcheting console shifters are so popular yesterday and today. I don't want anything on the floor of my cab. Besides, humor me. It is something that apparently (unbelievably) hasn't been done yet. Think of it as an interesting puzzle to be solved, an original idea that not everybody has. Besides, there are other people that would like to have one too. Check this link out:
