WTB:'86 sport bumper brackets

My '86 is missing the inside brackets for my rear sport bumper. But I would buy all four if had to. Anyone have these? Thanks

Re: WTB:'86 sport bumper brackets

I am a subscribing member looking to buy. So I can not buy from someone who is not a subscribing member even if they have what I want? That does not sound right. They are not posting something for sale. I am posting wanting to buy.

Re: WTB:'86 sport bumper brackets

hey 86, looks like your rear bumper is 73-80 style. I bought one at meet for the brackets but they will not work with my 86 bumper. For the bumper in the pic I think you need 73-80 brackets. Check this link.

No problem.

snohog, the bumper on my truck is a '73-'80? What is the difference? I know LMC and most of the other dealers have this but rather not pay what they want for the brackets. The bumper on my truck looks like an '86 to me.

Re: WTB:'86 sport bumper brackets

Well, it might be the wrong year for my truck but it looks like it was made for my truck. It just looks right. Still do not know what the difference is besides the brackets and how you can tell by just looking at the bumper.

Re: WTB:'86 sport bumper brackets

It does look good on your truck. I agree about the price for new brackets I have been looking for used 86 rear ones for a month or 2. I posted the URl for LMC only so you could see the difference in the model year bumpers. The 73-80 brackets are less expensive also. Good luck with your search.

Re: WTB:'86 sport bumper brackets

I sure like less expensive. Thanks for the help. I do have the LMC catalogs. I will check out the price on the '73-'80.

Re: WTB:'86 sport bumper brackets

I got my '81-'87 sport bumper brackets new from my Chevy dealer last month. I don't know if they have the '73-'80 style,... but it would be worth a shot.

I know this is on a stepper, but the 81-87 bumoer looked like the photo i attached. it matches the shape of the front one. Look at a front bumper on a 73-80... it matches the one you have.

Re: WTB:'86 sport bumper brackets

Well, if the holes are the same on the '73-'80 as on the '81-'87 bumpers I could make the center brackets (which is the ones I need) work.

they aren't the same at all. the early ones have two bolts per mounting point and are perpincular to the ground. The later ones have one bolt per mounting point and are angled.

I just bought a set of brackets from a board member who tried to interchange brackets.... it didn't work for him either.

Re: WTB:'86 sport bumper brackets

OK, then that would not work. I see what you mean. Guess I just might have to bite the bullet and order some new centers. Thanks.
