Turn Siganls

I just made a wiring harness for the front parking and turn signal lights, and i plugged everything in to test it out, but the turn signals dont work, nor do the parking lights. My first question is did the 66's use the turn signals for parking lights or was that only for the back. The turn signal front bulbs are dual filament, so im guessing they are parking lamps. My second q is how can i tell if the turn signal switch is brocken on the column? WHen i flip it up and down, it doesnt have a definantive click like newer cars. Also the turn signal bulbs by the gauges dont come on. Did 66's have this? Thanks......

Re: Turn Siganls

did you have the bulb socket plugged in to the housing?

the front trun signals/parking lights are grounded via the light housing, and will not work when not inserted in the housing. After installing my harness, I had the same issue, thought my turn signal switch was bad.
And yes, the turn signals are parking lights also, and it should have the dash lights (one if not two) in the gauge cluster.

Re: Turn Siganls

i actually hadnt installed the housings yet, so i just connected the terminlas right to the battery ground. I figured it was my harness, so i just tested the lights through the harness with the battery, and only the drivers side bulb lit on both filaments. The three prong connector to the firewall i think may be the problem, but ill figure that out later. I suppose its possible a short in the harness is causing the signals not to work. I turned on the lights (parking and headlights) adn teh dash board lights lit, but then when i tried the turn signals the arrows didnt lite on the panel. My main reason to think the turn signal switch isnt working is just the way it feels, there is only one real click, and that one feels odd anyway. When i push the lever all the way up or down, there is no click.
