Here's the problem, H.....E.....L.....P......!!!
Tried to get the motor cranked this afternoon and I am having a problem with the wiring. The starter will not engage and it doesn't have any power going to it from the purple wire and the headlights will not come on. Everything is hooked up. The running lights and the dash lights come on. No blown fuses.
I can run a jumper wire over to were the wire that goes to the starter comes out of the distribution block and it will engage the starter. What the heck? Thanks Fellers |

How do the pins on your firewall connector look? Maybe you have some corrosion in there and pushing on that purple wire gives enough pressure to get good contact when you're jumping it. That seems like a good place to start since the headlights run thru that too.

Had the same problem with mine when I fired it. I put a floor shifter in my truck & the column wasnt all the way in park. Try holding the shifter up a little while you crank it. Just an idea...
Just reread your post. Didnt see about the headlites before. Is your red wire from the dist block beside the battery hooked up to the pos post of the bat? Last edited by corn; 02-10-2007 at 09:35 PM. |

Everything was fine until I pulled the motor out. No dead battery, I was trying to figure out what would cause the starting and the no headlights. I don't this the connecter at the firewall is corroded. Any other sugestions?
Thanks In Advance |
