To sell (and get another) or NOT to sell (and keep mine). Your thoughts?
I bought my rusty but trusty bucket back in September. She's a 25 footer at best. Straight 6, converted three on the floor, and all kinds of rust. The truck runs like a d@mn top, it's seems like you just cant break it! My truck has loads of character, but not loads of power. The straight 6 has some balls, I can still burn the tires up at the drop of a dime...er, uh...clutch, but I want more power. I thought about putting a 350 in the good ole bucket, but yesterday I noticed yet another chunk of my truck laying in the driveway. I'm sure the truck isnt beyond repair, but as much as I love it in just these few months, I'm thinking maybe I should find what I want and give up my bucket to someone who'll be able to bring her back. Here are several pictures of my bucket. Several of the pictures are VERY flattering, I sent them to the insurance company.
I have been offered $1800 for my bucket. I found a 65 stepside C10 with a 350, 4 speed (which I've wanted), and in significantly better shape than mine. There is a small about of manageable rust. I've been TOLD that it runs great, but I KNOW mine does. The truck should be about 3 grand. So tell me, what would you do?

lookin at your truck I see where you get your tag from thats alot of rust man what you might do is pull out a catalog and just see how much some of that would be to fix with patch panels and then see if its worth saving. Or if you buy the other one it is a 350 so if something breaks obviously parts are easy to come by and if the rust isnt as bad then you may come out ahead especially if what your getting from yours is a lil over half

I'd say get rid of that one and start w/ a better truck. That way you don't have to do as much basic repairs and can do more of what you want to do w/ the truck, such as swap a 350 and things like that.

I'm leaning towards the new older truck, I'll be talking to the guy tomorrow.

Talked to the guy today and I have one glaring correction to make...there is NOT a 350 in it - it's a 409.
What can you guys tell me about Chevy's 409?

if you choose to get the truck with the "409" in it there are alot of vintage car guys that would pay BUCKS for a correct "409" ..

Ya, a 409 would definately make it unique and create some great power. Worth lots and are rare to boot.
