reverse gear in steering column - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

My truck has trouble going into "R" from the gear selector through the steering column. I have to wiggle the gear selector handle like a combination to get Reverse to "kick in". Is there something inside the column that is out of whack??? Or something else. The problem does NOT seem to be in the actual transmission.

The bushings in the column can be replaced, I just don't know where to get them. And then you need to keep them lubed so they don't wear them out. And yes, you are a member of a very large group of worn out column shift bushing owners.

We have the G.M. shift bushings and male-female trans linkage parts. e-mail if interested. They are in the MISC PARTS section of the online catalog.
