BB Heads
I read that they didnt start making BB small oval port heads till 1975. Is this true? Does that mean my stock 72BB has large oval port heads?

If your refering to the 'peanut port' heads that sounds about right. Mid to late 70's is about when all the emissions crap was killing the breathing capabilities of most motors. I'm all for clean air . . .it just shouldn't matter whats under the hood as long as it's as clean as when it rolled off the showroom floor.
