Does Anyone Know ?

I have a chance to buy the buckets and console shown here. These are from an 04/05 Chev/GMC Ext Cab.. I've seen a lot of these seats in the newer trucks and they always seem darker to me than these pics show. Does anyone know if GM had 2 shades of dark charcoal ( which the wrecker tells me these are ) or is it the lighting in the pic that is making them look lighter.
I'm going to install them in my truck as shown here so I want them as dark as possible.

Thanks for the reply..What color is the outside of your truck? Knowing the factory there is probably only one shade of dark charcoal. How comfortable do you find the seats? I'm a big guy at 6'2' and 260 lbs and I got long legs and am hoping they will be very comfortable cause my wife has bad back and I plan to drive my truck to lots of shows all over the place.

Re: Does Anyone Know ?

Those look just like the ones in my dad's '02 (which is gray exterior btw). Honestly, they are not near as comfortable as the buckets in my '98. My dad thinks so, too. He talks about it evertime he drives it. We're both about 6' 185 lbs. I think they are comfortable enough for around town, but if I had to choose for a longer trip I'd go with something with more lumbar support. I hope this helps and not hinders.

Re: Does Anyone Know ?

There is only one color of charcoal. Those are the same seats that are in my wife's 03, they're comfortable but could be better. Also, working in the shop I've noticed the foam in these seats seem to break down faster than the
95-98 style.

Thanks. Anyway you could post a pic of the seats from your Dads 98, so I can see the style.

Not right now. He lives in Nashville and I'm about 2 hours away. I don't think he has a digital camera Sorry. Someone else should have one. Good luck.

Re: Does Anyone Know ?

we have those seats in both our 01 and 05 shop trucks.
The 01 has about 100k and the drivers seat feels like it should be more like 200k miles... the bottom is smashed down pretty bad. The driver of that truck since new is about 175 pounds, so i doubt it's his fault.
Personally, I find those seats rather painful. Granted, I DO have lower back problems, but those seats really seem to do me in if in them for more than 45 min to an hr.
I also think they would take up your leg room. The seat backs are thick, and every inch you take in the seat back will feel like 2 inches eaten in leg/gut room.
Interesting thing I have noticed, the vinyl seats of the same model seems to be less painfull on my back, but then they rip considerably sooner around the edge by your left butt cheek.

You also end up sitting in a 'way too verticle' position, just to get some of your leg room back.

Re: Does Anyone Know ?

I do appreciate all the help I get from this board and hopefully some guys have gotten some help from me at different times.. Anyway about this seat thread I did some digging through old pics last night and found these shots of the first 67/72 I saw with the seats . Now that I see the pics I realize the seats in the black truck are an exact color match to ones I'm getting for mine. I saw this juicy black truck at the Goodguys Spokane Show in August 03and that is where and when I decided I wanted a set of those seats for my truck. The black truck has Idaho plates/tags, does anyone know the owner of this truck? I Know, I know, I looked at the seat pics after I posted them and the color looks different. The pic of the seats in the black truck is a scan from a 35mm print and the color on the original print and the color of the seats at the wrecker are identical. Something must have changed in the scan cause the black truck seat pic is a differrent gray.

Re: Does Anyone Know ?

I am using similar seats from a 1998 Silverado

I'm right at 6' (okay probably 5'11" but 6' sounds better ) and I sure wouldn't want to be any taller and have these seats. I have to keep the seats more upright than I prefer. To have them reclined where I like I would have to have the seat moved forward way too much. Just something for you to keep in mind. I think the seats themselves are very comfortable.

Do some searching here about the issue of whether our truck floors are strong enough for these integrated seatbelt seats. There are some members who make some very good points about that issue.

I noticed your gas tank is gone too which I am also doing.. Is the drivers seat power in your truck because you get a larger range of motion with power seats. I plan to reinforce the floor when I install the seats, did you reinforce your floor?
