takeing out the steering column ??
So I hope to do my p/s swap today, or tomorow. I would like to know if there are any tricks, or tips on removing the steering column. ANY help on this would be great.
I'm guessing you remove the rag joint, remove old steering box and pull the coulmn off ? Thanks again Last edited by slepysal; 02-17-2007 at 12:50 PM. |

Re: takeing out the steering column ??
There should be 2 bolts under the dash. The plate/brace at the firewall will need to be undone and unplug the harness. It's an easy job to do.

It will make it easier if you take the itermidiate shaft off too. It might be too long to get out through the cab if it's left on.

Re: takeing out the steering column ??
It should come off when the pinch bolt is removed. Once the rag joint is off it will colapse enough to remove it from the column. There is a spring between the 2 in an auto column (not sure on a stick)so make sure you don't loose it.
