Wood Bed Advice Needed

I am thinking of milling my own wood for my 71 Fleetside. I have dried some nice ash for almost 2 years now. Does anyone know the width and lenght of the boards? My old ones are toast and I can't get the measurements off them. Also is there a router bit that matches the factory notch for the strips? What about the holes?

Sure would be nice if someone offered the plans to make a wood bed from scatch like I want to?

I am a teacher and we have a great woodworking program at the school.

Re: Wood Bed Advice Needed

The directions from GMC pauls are pretty exact, just make sure that you offset the mount holes. Drill the 1 1/2" insert first, then set your washer in place and drill the second 1/2 " hole. A word of advice, make sure you treat all the holes you drill into the wood before you bolt everything together, or all your work will soon look like crap after some moisture hits it.
