new truck front clip on a 67-72

Does anyone think that if you were to cut a front frame clip off a 99+ truck from the firewall forward, that it could be welded in place of the one on my 69... I wouldnt be the one to do the work, sense I can't weld.. but there is a totalled 2000 by me that is cheap.. I figured that would get me the 5.3, auto trans, plus a whole disc to disc clip alot cheaper than aftermarket

The first thing to do is measure the distance between the frame rails and see if it lines up width wise with your frame. If it does, then it might not be too mush work. Otherwise, you could spend a lot more paying someone to fab it up than the $500 it would cost you for a drop spindle disc swap.

The engine and trans should bolt up without too much work into your existing frame. You might have to change the trans cross member but that's not too bad.

While a conversion like this might be just what you want you should consider the consequences of this mod when or if you decide to sell it. Not everyone would want a cut and modded frame. It will usually be worth more in original configuration with maybe a spindle and coil change.

I agree, I wouldn't cut up a good shorty frame, just do the 5.3 transplant and ebay the rest to fund a disc conversion.
