Re: looking for a 700r rebuilder in tn
shops around here are getting close to $1000 for a bench job. (you R&R and they just do the rebuild on a bench) not bad considering the parts all together comes to about $400.

Depends on how long you want to wait to takeoff the line...stall converter for street use, for pulling?......Stock converter may be used with a performance shift kit tho. |

I know a few people if Keith's guy can't help. Depends on where you are in Nashville.

Re: looking for a 700r rebuilder in tn
Hey just a quick suggestion. Spending the extra money on racing clutches is not worth the money . Transmission are Hydralic pumps that hydromatically shift the "gears" clutch packs. What you need to do is get your pump pressure up. The higher the pressure the better the clutches grip( like a stronger pressure plate in a manual truck). As for stall converters I wouldn't because they keep your pressure down so the clutches slip to give you your "stall". therefore transmissions will have a short life. If you don't have a big cam and are not planning on drag racing the truck a stock converter well do you fine.
Oh a reputable trans mechanic should be able to get the pump pressure up by installing better springs, or look for a 700r out of a cop car, or a Iroc camaro. They have what they call a 10 vein pump where a standard 700 only has a 7 vein pump. Thats My 2 cents worth. |

That's right, I remember now. You might want to check with CHEVYE or Igotachevyor2. They live in your neck of the woods and probably know a guy there also.

i like the factory cables best but you may need an adjustable one to match your bracket setup, your rebuilder will get it for you
