Hoping to get some input here, trying to decide whether to attempt to source original parts or go for the easy way out. I would prefer an original system but am wondering, does anyone have a suggestion for where to get a complete set up, any condition, and if so, what do you think it would cost for the parts?

The vintage system looks to be about $1200 and would be new working condition. Could an old system be purchased for $500 and then I have to put in a lot of elbow grease?

The new Gen IV system will cost you $900 minus the lines, compressor, condenser, ducting, and vents. That is what I plan to go with.

Check out Old Air....around $1k total. I'd go with one of those before the stock version hands down.

I prefer the original system because of the look and the way the controls work. Costwise if you don't have anything to start with you will probably exceed $500 by a lot.

My plan is to run the Vintage air system.

I don't have Vintage Air yet. I have been doing some searching on it, and haven't found anybody that had anything bad to say about it. I am confident this will be the way I go.

Did your rig come with OEM A/C?

I have a cab that had the OEM A/C and am hoping to find a parts truck with most of the donor pieces, but didn't have any idea what to expect someone might want for them.

Because of the age of the trucks you will probably need to replace the hoses, condenser, condenser piping, receiver drier, blower motor, inside ducts, maybe the compressor, and also the diverter box since many don't work. Hopefully the evaporator, poa valve, and inlet valve are good.

If you want to redo your existing AC system, I would suggest getting a Service Manual for you truck as they have an excellent section on the system.

Hey Idaho Outlaw, my brother lives in Nampa. He had a Vintage air in his 66. He took it out because he froze in the winter. It takes away your hot water heater. They work real good for those of us in the south.

I have Vintage Air in both my trucks! My heat works fine but sometimes it wants to fog the windows. Either way dollar for dollar they are hard to beat! If you can follow instructions and have basic knowledge of hand tools you can install a Vintage Air kit.
