The Search Continues...
Just for reference, how would I find out how many SWB 4x4's were produced during 71 and 72? Any books out there that might have these types of numbers? Thanks.

Re: The Search Continues...
way low to me. that would only be like 100 fleetsides per state in 72. Then again, i cant remember the last time i saw a shortbed 4x4 here in missouri......what was the ratio of swb to lwb? seems like everybody and their brother's dog has lwb's 2or4 for that matter.

Re: The Search Continues...
Thats why shortbed 4x4s are much more expensive and less common, there wasnt many of them. How many people in 1970 would order a 4x4 that was a shortbed?Shortbeds werent much of a work vehicle, just for someone needng a 4x4 to drive.Thats why most were longbeds,to be used as a work truck

Re: The Search Continues...
I would say those numbers are dead on. 6069 is what I have always read for the production of swb fleetside 4x4s (which is what I have). You see a lot more 2wd trucks on 4x4 frames than you see original swb 4x4 trucks.

Re: The Search Continues...
Actually, alot of the shortbed K/10s were bought by government agencies, like hiway depts in mountain states, parks depts, and Dept of the Interior. Many were bought by utilities and logging companies in the mountains. They were more manuverable and weren`t used for payloads as much as for tool or equipment hauling and surveying.By these tears,in the western states, where they knew (and needed) their trucks and didn`t have much use for cars,is where you saw most of you "well-dressed" trucks ordered for personal use.
