Well, now I've gone and done it...

I think I opened a whole new can of worms with this one....

Just put the downpayment on a complete 2000 5.3L with just 50 000 miles and everything I need to make it run

I have no intention of dropping the 5.3L in until I've got my body work done, the NV4500 / NP241 combo ready to go, and my wiring totally figured out, so I will be using the TPI until that time.

Expect an in-depth writeup of everything that is involved with lots of pictures... I haven't been able to find any articles that have all the technical details required for the swap all in one place yet, so I intend to make that article

My goal for this summer is to get the truck's bodywork totally squared away. I met a guy who is a professional bodyman and a mechanic on the side. He wants a TPI 383, but hates electrical. He told me he'll replace my cab corners, make my body totally straight, and finished with epoxy primer, ready for paint in exhange for getting his TPI wired up Sounds like a pretty fair trade to me, seeing as I love electrical work, and know exactly how to do his harness up If he finishes the body job before winter, and I've got my tranny / t-case ready to go, and enough money saved up, I'll get the 5.3L swap done next winter

Very cool, Russel.
I guess Chris is gonna have some competition now.

But, wait 'til next Winter... It's gonna be hard.

BTW, hook me up with one and I'll start now.

Wow, it sounds like you're getting a real good deal with your buddy. I like doing electrical work also, and I have scored some deals (not as good as yours though) because of it.

Why doesn’t this surprise me one bit? haha Sounds like a good plan

You will defiantly like the 5.3 and the 'life expectancy' is awesome too.
