another newbie with a question
I've been reading this board for about a month, and joined last week. I wanted to say Hi and say that you all have some nice trucks and projects going!
I have a 69 GMC C2500 of my own that I have been working on for the past two weeks to get it on the road, this will be my daily driver AND project. I want to switch it from leaf spring rear setup to the trailing arm setup, I have the arms, shock crossmember, and panhard bar mount. My question is, has anyone on this board done this before? And if so, how do I go about locating the shock crossmember? I know where the panhard bar will mount, and how and where the arms mount, just not sure how to locate the shock crossmember? Can anyone help? Thanks... |

Welcome, first of all.I would measure off another truck or maybe someone here could get you a measurement from a given point on their truck.I only have 4wds at the house.
I noticed you hadn`t mentioned the trailing arm crossmember.Did you get that?Need measurements??

Re: another newbie with a question
Thanks for the welcome! Measurements would be great if someone has them, as far as the trailing arm crossmember, I did get it too, but it looks like the same piece to me, looks exactly the same.

Re: another newbie with a question
As with anything on these trucks, if you don't already have the factory rivit holes in the frame to line up, there should be some center punch holes on the frame. Locate the factory holes or center punch marks and this should show you where to go.
