Possible Fuel Door Options
Hey guys,
Just dropped my 2wd blazer off at the bodyshop. Me and the guy were talking about what to do with the fuel neck. He told me he'd put a door and everything on it for me. Just trying to figure out which ones you guys were using that were easiest to attain. Also what all do I need off of it. Here's a pic of my inspiration blazer and it has a round door. I would prefer a round one

Re: Possible Fuel Door Options
The 88-98 truck fuel doors are easy to come by and look pretty good grafted into a 67-72

Thanks Sting, that's what I was leaning towards. Just wanted to check all options.

Re: Possible Fuel Door Options
also you might want to cut out the sheetmetal around the door, instead of just pulling the door off, so you can graft the sheetmetal into your bed.

Re: Possible Fuel Door Options
i liked the gas cap behind the taillight from another thread , you could hinge the taillight down and get to the cap to fill her up nothing to mess up the nice lines of the truck

Re: Possible Fuel Door Options
Just curious but can you use the side marker option on a swb fleet side?

Re: Possible Fuel Door Options
You may also want to look at some imports, that way you can get an inside cable release for the door. I think the Caravan's also have it available (Round with the release). I definitely thing the round doors fits the lines better than any of the square ones I have seen being used.

I REALLY like the tail light idea. I'm going to look at that a little closer. I'm going to try to find that thread and look at that.

Re: Possible Fuel Door Options
I like the one that glock35ipsc used. The cap doesn't have to be removed to fill, because the center pushes in. I think it would work good for a sidemarker filler since the sidemarker opening is small. If I would have seen this before I started the taillight filler, I probably would have gone the sidemarker route and saved some work, but I'm happy with how it turned out. Now if I can just save enough for a custom fuel cell.

Re: Possible Fuel Door Options
The only thing about mine is that I had to use the trim to cover the gap below the light. I had to do this to give it enough clearance to open. You could recess the whole light enough to clear, but would probably have to do the others to match it. You can see where I trimmed it in this pic.

Re: Possible Fuel Door Options
I had to cut some of the metal out behind the tail light, but nothing inside the bed, or that will show.
