transmission

i have a th 350 in my work truck (70 lwb) and when im driving it sometimes it will lurch and the shake and the column shift inside the cab will move itself to a lower gear

it just started doing this... sometimes the transmission will kick the column linkage so hard it will separte the peice connected to the transmission and the peice going to the frame and than up to the column etc.

Re: transmission

im pretty sure the mounts are solid... its gotta be either the transmission moving and the body staying still or the body moving and the transmission staying still... but the tranny mount is good and engine mounts are new and solid...

Re: transmission

inspect your motor mounts... Since you have a 70, you have a solid throttle linkage, so this is VERY important. There was a recall on this in 72, if the motor mount seperataes, the engine can move far enough to lock the throttle in what ever position it is in (even when you let off the throttle) or, with really high torque or if you floor it, it can turn the engine hard enough to go to wide open throttle.
Look at your motor mounts asap.
