I Took My Top Off In Public!!!

Well, hopefully all you guys up North will be jealous of me. This is the time of year when I love Texas weather. I’m sure I will feel differently come July and its 100 degrees with loads of Humidity. Anyway, it’s been sunny and in the 60s for the last couple days so I took off the top and enjoyed it. This was the first time I have removed it (thanks to a little help from Jtrux). I have been slowly getting my K5 to driver status since I bought it August 06. The topless pic below is from yesterday, and the other is of the day I got it just to show a little before and after for you guys.

Well, when I found it, it was basically complete, been sitting for 6 years or so. I put in a distributor, a starter, and rebuilt the transmission (it was slipping, probably why it was parked) Other than that, its been just tune up, clean up, some rewiring here and there, ect... The lift is a mixed blessing. Front springs are pretty good, but the back is in need of some help. I've been trying to get some new rear springs for a few months now, but haven't made up my mind yet. I'm in no hurry.

Looks good, hopefully when I get the exhaust done this weekend we can pull the top off mine and cruise around a little bit.

Jealous - You bet. I am about 1.5 hours in the bush on job sites today with my K5. It was -18C which is about -1F this morning at camp when I started it up to drive to site. Even with the top on, covered with snow, mud and salt, about a dozen guys pressed their faces against the windows to check it out.

Re: I Took My Top Off In Public!!!

About your rear springs, get online @ summitracing. I was just looking at 8" rear springs yesterday, I think they were Superlift for $150. I cheaped out & put 5.5" blocks in the rear, regretting now. Just a thought.

Re: I Took My Top Off In Public!!!

Now all I have to worry about is our "rainy" season that comes in the springtime. Usually get 3-4 inches between February and June.

Re: I Took My Top Off In Public!!!

well i haven't been able to save up for anything because i'm connecting from the city main and dumping this crappy septic tank...no punn intended.....so i haven't been able to do anything. i do need to find someone who can cut out and weld in the panels though. i'll probably get that taken care of in the next couple of months if i can find someone to do it for a reasonable amount.

Wow. And to think, 4 days ago here in California, I didn't even have any dew on my truck in the morning. I'm glad the air conditioning works.
