Unhappy does anyone have a comfortable seat out there?

I am trying to rebuild the seat in my 3/4 ton so that it's comfortable, and the upholstery guy is more than happy to take my money. I'm starting to think is it worth it, or is there something else out there that is more comfortable that I can pull out of a junked car (or truck) that looks right in the truck. I have a blazer tank so that gives me a little more room. Any ideas?

Re: does anyone have a comfortable seat out there?

A few people are running the new style Tahoe buckets, it is what I'll eventually go with. I can't say how comfortable they really are but they at least look comfy. They're a bit pricey though, going for like $600 a set plus shipping on ebay.

Re: does anyone have a comfortable seat out there?

i had a '96 ford bench in my truck (sold to a board member) that was very comfy. it had high headrests, but you can get one out of a 4-door. the back seat doesn't have the head rests. it also sits a little lower, so it's more comfy. they can be had pretty reasonably if you want a bench.

also, after i sold said seat, i rebuilt my original bench with new foams and houndstooth kit. it was almost $800 just to do the seat back to original.

That's a good idea. Right now it has buckets from a '96 chevy extended cab, which are comfortable, but don't look right.

And I got a $150 set from an '06 HHR with 3 miles on it that look great but the mounting was a fab job from hell. Remember the floors aren't stiffened any where but at the original seat mount points.

Re: does anyone have a comfortable seat out there?

I installed a pair of black microsuede Corbeau racing seats in my '69. Comfy as hell & hold you tight in the corners. Look amazing too. But they sure as hell aren't cheap. I paid about $1500 CDN for the them. Mind you my truck is an ongoing project, has been for years.

as indicated in the pics, the seats are currently just sitting in my truck, because i' have started tearing my truck apart, and it's easier to store them there.

originally i had them mounted directly to the floor like in the pics (you can see in the last pic where the welds were), using 1/2" flat stock welded to the floor with threaded holes to mount the rear, and 1/4" flat stock bent at approx 75 degrees to mount the front. Since the seats are powered, I had the seats at max height adjustment and the ride was perfect.

I have since removed those brackets (preparing to fix the rust in the floor), and am planning to raise the seats an inch or two, to give me more flexibility in the height adjustment.

Re: does anyone have a comfortable seat out there?

i have 02 blazer buckets. i was at the local chevy dealer cause i had to bring my moms truck in for some recall stuff. and i was walking around the lot and they were junking this blazer and i did some talking and ended up with the seats and console for nothing. the console i didnt use cause it was too narrow, it looked funny. i only wish i got the seatbelts too, still gotta go buy them. they are all electric and more comfortable then the 97 malibu i had. anyone know the headrests come out??

Re: does anyone have a comfortable seat out there?

VinceM sold me these out of a 2000 3500, they fit right in and I didn't have to do anything with the seat brackets. I used angle iron under the cab for support. In fact the front bolt holes lined up just right. I left the jump seat out of the middle.

Here is what I know, URL below. I have seen the seats at shows and sat in them. Very comfortable and very pricey.

Re: does anyone have a comfortable seat out there?

Hey Guys, The Teas seat is the most comfortable seat I have ever sit on. I used the slider brackets they provide with the seat but I did have to mount a 2in square steel tubing between the bracket and floor.

Re: does anyone have a comfortable seat out there?

I just bought these seats for my truck and they are from an 2004 Chev Ext Cab.. I havent installed them yet but I'm sure they will be comfy and a big reason I bought them was cause of the shoulder belts. I'll reinforce the floor when I install so the seats wont rip out in an accident. I was in a bad accident with a train last spring and I think the biggest reason I walked away ( besides the fact I was driving a 1990 Burb) was because I was wearing my seat/shoulder belt.
