i need 3 wise men to answer 3 ?

Puttin together my 69 4x4.
1]what goes in the rectangle hole under the steering column?
2]the clutch rod boot looks to close to the exhaust, im worried about fire with it that close. whats wrong, what to do?
3]is this where everybody elses z-bar is mounted on the motor, looks like i cant get headers to mount with it there?

1. That is the square hole for the Hand e-brake cable on 67 & 68 cabs.
[See pic of my 67 GMC]

2. Mine has not burned up yet. I'll shoot another pic of that area and re-post.

3. Buy a pair of 2.5 inch center dump Corvette ramhorns, they will add to the old-school look of of you engine. (Nice V-Covers ) Fitting headers on a 4x4 can be done, it's just a pain to find some that fit.

1) parking brake cable.
2) yes it is close but I do not think it will burn. Can you reverse it to the inside of the cab?
3) looks right, headers may be an issue.

it must be an early 69 cab, to have a 67/8 hole cause it also has the hole in the upper part of the firewall for the 69 e-brake too. reversing the boot is a good idea, didnt think of that. ill try it. thanks guys
