i got a 1970 k/5 blaze with a 14 blot in the back and a dana 44 in the front 4:10 gears i need to buy a new lift kit. the springs in my truck are saged out and the rear leaf pack is broken. rear lift blocks are junk !!!! looks like some one was doing some hard hee hawwin with it before i got the truck . i am lookin to run at least a 37inch tire on hummer h2 wheels going for the cheap for the most part . i dont really know what compay makes the best kits i just dont want it to ride like a old wagon

I'm running Rough country springs up front and a shackle flip in the rear. 4" total. If you are looking for softer, look at Tuff Country, BDS or Skyjacker softrides.

RC springs are typically complained about as being too stiff, but mine feel firm but not overly so. I'd defineatly suggest going with a shackle flip in the back. you eliminate the blocks and can run flatter springs for better ride and flex.

yeah i heard the procomp springs are suposed to be too stiff too . i have been looking in to the shackle flip in the back as a idea too .

If you want a good flexy setup, run 52s off the rear of a truck or K-5, and 63s in the rear. 63s are off 88-up style trucks. Procomp makes a 6" lift rear setup that is super soft. Probly woudn't need the shackle flip, that would give you about 7-8" lift. The front might have to be tweaked some, I tried 52s on my 89, and with the 454 in it, it flattened the springs almost to the overload. I want to try it again, adding leaves to get a good height and ride/flex. Might take to some work, but these mods can be cheap. You can get the springs in junkyards, the shackle flip is $175-ish, or you can make one yourself. I planning on doing this to a 92 Blazer when I get it.....

I am running Pro-Comp 6" springs front and rear.Yeah they are a little stiff,but Ihavent done too much hard wheelin yet,so I cant comment on the performance. DEAVER springs will make a custom set just to your needs. I think they are in Santa Ana,Ca.Alot of race trucks use them.

I got skyjackers lift kits on my '81 Blazer and my '79 pickup. I like them mostly just personal preference as there are alot of good lift kit compaines.

I have a 72 Blazer with shot springs. Just wondering who makes the best 2.5 suspension lift that has a decent ride. As good or better than stock? The truck is going to be frame off resto soon. Thanks any advice would be great. Thanks Jhon

I`ve always liked the positive feel on the road of the "stiff-lifts" everyone bad mouths these days.Unless you have alot of offroad built into your rig and use it to those extremes,you won`t really reap the benefits of custom springs.I take it easy with my speed over the rough stuff.I don`t expect my suspension to allow for high speed washboard smoothing.To me it`s about slowing down.I don`t do anything where I need ungodly travel,either.I`d like to build a dedicated off rod rig sometime and go all out.
I`ve arched my own and I`ve run RoughCountry,Burbank,Rancho,Superlift,and TuffCountry.They`re all about the same.The TuffCountys seem smoother,but that`s on a Suburban with more rear weight and longer springs.Also,Rancho 9000RSX shocks with a soft setting.I had Superlifts on a truck with hydraulic shocks and I remember that as having a real nice ride.I think hydraulic shocks are undersold and gas shocks over-rated.Hydraulic shocks won`t cavitate under normal on-offroad driving.If you want gas shocks so you can run like a S.C.O.R.E. racer over bumps,you`ll pay with a stiff ride on the road.Stiff springs need soft shocks,it`s that simple.

Huh? 2 stacks of lift blocks? I'm no suspension genuis, but that is normally a bad thing to do. It won't take much wheelhop to spit one of those blocks out and send your truck on a wild ride out of control. Breaking on the trail is one thing, but driving on the street with the public is another.

Do yourself a favor and ditch at least one of the sets of lift blocks you have and go with a lifted spring. It's much safer. Actually, if you are looking for 8" of lift a 4" lifted spring with a shackle flip (normally gets you 4" by itself) and you will have a better riding, safer setup with NO blocks at all.

Please take this as constructive critisim and not some internet flame.

I wondered what was meant by 2 stacks of 3/4t lifts,too.But,I don`t know that he means blocks since he didn`t say blocks.He could mean add-a-leafs.I`m still wondering.

sounds kinda shaddy to me . well i decided on a lift and i am ordering it on monday . going with the shackle flip kit for the rear with a 2 inch spring and then a 6 inch lift in the front. i am going with tuff country springs . just got to decide on shocks rancho or procomp . i had the adjustable ranchos on my jeep and they felt like they did pretty well with the 33s and v8 i was runin . ever seen a jeep out run a camaro lol . i got the rs 5000s on my little truck and they are alright just the truck gets a little to stiff every now and then

I run Deaver 8 inch lift springs front and rear. My front spings are about five inches longer than stock. I moved my front shackle hanger back five inches. I used to have Rough Country (heavy on the rough) six inch springs. There is no comparison on the ride quality and flex. My 71 Blazer drives as smooth as any new ifs trucks. Give Deaver a call, they have a ton of experience with first gen blazers. I'm not going to tell you that Deaver springs are cheap but you will not be disapointed.

no i was not talking about blocks i meant 2 sets of leaf packs off of 2 different 3/4ton trucks i stacked them together and made my lift there is 12 leafs in one pack and the funny thing is it rides like a cadallac and it does NOT axle wrap any more
