Re: Factory big block truck?

chevyfatman... paul (has anyone seen him lately??) has a 305 V-6/TH400 one ton longhorn with a low hump, so i wonder if the GMC deal was only on 1/2 ton trucks, or maybe 1/2 and 3/4...?

Re: Factory big block truck?

Special k, I have yet to see a 70 model with the 396 emblems. I also have a 67 327/th400 with the low hump and i also sold a 72 cheyenne 1/2 ton longbed, 402, 3 speed column shift with the low hump. It had the heat shield, BB power steering, and dual exhaust hangars...

The only factory dual exhaust came on big blocks. So,the factory brackets are a telltale.
High-hump/low-humps were related to trans options.Small with 3spd and TH350 in 2wd.High with 4spd,TH400 in 2wd.All 4wds are high-humps.All big block trucks had 4spds or TH400,so all big blocks had high-humps.Dig?
Is that why my carpet kit didn't fit right? I thought all 2wd had the "low hump". But then I ordered the carpet kit for the low hump and it really doesn't fit right at all. Live and learn. The hump looked lower than my 4 X 4?

I do know there's a few differences between the BB trucks and the small block trucks as far as parking brake cables, power steering pump reservoir mounting, etc. I have one of each and it's surprising the little differences.
