The look of the seats

Hey, do you guys think the seats don't look right? I got 'em from a '96 extended cab, and they're comfortable, but I don't know, I want something that doesn't stick up - I got a bench from a '91 regular cab that should work real well and I can match the color - will post pix when it is done.

I think the seat are ok but they could be a different color like black or maybe matching yellow, but the console doesn't look right. Why does it look like it is tilting upwards? Is it backwards or not bolted down?

It's not bolted down - I put the seats (didn't know if I would like) them and just set the console in - but I got the seats for $150.00 and they're in great shape, so I couldn't pass 'em up -

other than the console being backwards, i think they look fine.

slide them forward a notch or two then they will lay back a little more, and might look better to you.

Well the seats look pretty good...I just think that if they were darker it would look much better. No I change my mind...they look so bad in your ride...I'll do you a favor by taking them off of you.

That looks like it will be very comfortable. But I suggest you tint the back window dark so that the tops of the seats aren't visible from the rear. Not a big deal to most people, but its a pet peeve of mine.

Let me know if you decide to change them out. My interior is red so I think those seats would work great in my truck. I just put the original bench in mine and I sit too high in it, so I'm looking for something else. Thanks, Matt

the seats look out of place to me from behind unless you tint the window. but bottom line is it is your truck and are you happy with it? as for the doors the panels are 72 but the door is not

I was going to say,"just tint the back glass dark."I bought new-take-outs in lt.beige for my`92 ($500).I ordered it new with vinyl low-backs and the headreasts come off.I`ll prooly re-cover those for a 67/72.I don`t really like highbacks in these trucks for the outside appearance.But dark tint...

To me the seats look right, but the console is not level. That makes it look like an afterthought. In my 91, (when I installed seats like that, I trimmed the bottom of the console and fitted it to the floor, so that it would sit flat. That would be your choice, thogh. Just my .02.....


By the way, I have seats almost that same shape and design (out of 98 Suburban) going into my 68. I am going to remove the folding goofy armrests when I get the tupholstery redone. I am gong to build my own console and include a sub box under it. I did, however, trim down the pedastals to fit the cab better and fit around the floor shape.

everyone keeps commenting on the console, but nobody seems to realize

it looks wrong because it's sitting in the truck backwards!!!!

Turn it around the way it's supposed to be (sloping forward) and it will look good.

The nice thing about that console...
JL Audio makes a sub enclosure that replaces the bottom part.

Even with it sitting backwards, after turning it around, I would want it sitting more level than it appears to be inclined to do.

Those same type seats were available in a low back for a couple years (no motorhome style armrests).
Bring those up here and I will put them in my late 70s crew cab, where there is room for them.

They were the optional buckets commonly found in 88-98 standard cab pickups.

The seats in these pics are one of the best mods for a 67-72. I'd rather have those than a stock bench or over priced buddy buckets!!

hey frank id like to have a set of those seats that are in your blazer. where did you get the back one from?

Both the red & blue buckets are the same. These low backs only came in about 88-92 (93-4 had head rests). They are extremely comfortable, not as thick as the later ones and the right height to just drill a couple holes.
They are getting so old now that most of them are pretty rough. They do look nice recovered with custom interiors.
The back seat in same year blazers & suburbans is about right for ours, too. I actually bought a new GM seat cover. It came already formed to new foam, from GM. I cut down the 72 rear frame and made it fit the new 90s foam. Not the easiest way to go, but all I had to work with at the time.

With the later style lowback seats pictured above would any leg room be lost compared to factory 67-72 buckets/bench?

I have those identical seats dan42, and will be upholstering custom door panels to mount them. Do they look stock? Nope, not even close. Do they look right? That's a matter of opinion, but lots of people like them. Are they comfortable? Amazingly.
