Recommended Process Roll Bar Installation?
Hey Members, I am installing a Hickey type roll bar in my K5 and am seeking advise. I have taken some measurements but am not sure if the roll bar can be installed with the top bolted in place. Any recommendations and bolt hole dimensions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance. ...Dan |

Re: Recommended Process Roll Bar Installation?
Has anyone removed or installed a Hickey type roll bar with the hard top bolted in place?

Re: Recommended Process Roll Bar Installation?
Dan, I tried to do what you are suggesting butttt was installing a "kit" roll bar that required welding the back bracing. I recently removed a bar form a junker and to be honest, it would be a whole lot easier to do this with the top offfffffff. My first attempt I didn't measure enough and wound up drilling a hole too close to a floor support rib!! DUMB DUMB!! Measure, measure, measure. If the bar is complete, You can just lay it in place and mark, then measure the spots. Be sure to back plate the front mount and rear mount if possible. With seats in place and top on, you are working against yourself and will probably wish it was off. You might be able to squrrell it in there --just have a few beers first---hehehehe Huck

Re: Recommended Process Roll Bar Installation?
Huck, you confirmed what I suspected although I do not think having to remove the top reflects is a good design element.
Craig, this weekend will be great if you get a chance. Thanks again. ...Dan |
