2wd compared to a 4wd
My brother wants to get a 2wd blazer or a 4wd and convert it to 2wd. How much lower does the 4wd frame hang from the body compared to the 2wd?
thanks |

Re: 2wd compared to a 4wd
none, the only thing tat is different frame wise is the rear of the frame is wider for the coil springs on a 2wd.

Re: 2wd compared to a 4wd
The four wheel drive frame also comes up higher in the front making it sit lower when the crossmember is installed. Mine was converted and has a Porterbuilt dropmember and stock spindles.

Re: 2wd compared to a 4wd
This is interesting info. Do you know how much more? This a nice alternative to a crossmember section.

Re: 2wd compared to a 4wd
here are some fresh pictures of my conversion to 2wd . i was told i was crazy for takeing a super clean 4x4 and messing it up.now i will let you guys be the judge of that.yea it was clean but when a real 2wd is hard to find you have to keep your options open.so here are some pictures i plan on starting a new thread when i get some more done in the next week or so, it will include all the measurements and hardware info.thanks for your time and good luck with your projects. oh yea one more thing thanks to gringoloco for your post on the rear install of the trailing arm set up, dude it went right in and your pictures were perfect reference points to geterdone. Re: 2wd compared to a 4wd
Ortegamotor, looks sweet to me! I don't have a problem with you converting a sweet K5 to 2wd - your gonna have a sweet 2wd when you're done and have exactly what you want - that is what is important in my book.

Re: 2wd compared to a 4wd
i am thinking about doing the same thing to a project blazer (already have a 4x4) Would really help if you could do a write up look foreward to seeing it done.
