Re: sterring box question
it was never centered when it was installed.
A vette box wouldn't even work on a truck. |

Re: steering box question
If it is anything like mine I would jack the front end up. Center the tires disconnect the steering box from from tie rod and turn the steering box 1/2 turn to the right.

Re: steering box question
I found that my 4x4 had this problem also, but didn't realize it until I swapped my manual box for a PS box. The drag-link was too long, causing the box to be off-center when the tires were straight ahead. I don't know the steering setup on the 2wds but I suspect that you will have to adjust the tie rods on both sides to get the box back to center when the tires are straight ahead. Sounds like whoever has been doing alignments on the truck hasn't been doing the whole job.

Re: steering box question
I think your pitman arm is off a tooth or two,the best way to center it is,turn your steering wheel lock to lock (all the way left then right)count your total turns and devide them in half, that would center you gear box.now remove your pitman arm from the gear box and point it straight now rebolt your pitman arm and drive it to get an alignment.
