Pics of a crunched 67 swb
Here for your veiwing pleasure (or displeasure), some pics of a '67 that belonged to a customer of ours. About 7 years ago we put a brand new 327, and a fresh rebuilt 700 r4 in this truck, a few weeks later he became the meat in the middle of an auto sandwich. He walked away form it, and the truck has been behind my shop ever since. This is pretty convincing evidence that in-cab gas tanks don't explode on rear end collisions

Re: Pics of a crunched 67 swb
If the truck looks like that, those other cars have to be completely totaled. As you all know, these are some damn tuff trucks. Sooo, is it being parted out?

Good thing for him. That driver's door is jammed shut. He would have been burned toast before he could have gotten out if it had exploded. Hate to see another old Chevy die though.

Re: Pics of a crunched 67 swb
if he would of had a hitch and the old fatory steel diamand plate rear bumper on it with the hitch ball sticking out the bed would of never been touched the frame might be a little bent butit could be straiten thats why i reinforce my rear end by adding square tubing to the back of the frame andaround the hitch trust me the hitch dose a lot to protect the back of the truck to many young kids out there with the cell phone in there ear and the radio turned up to loud and

Gotta laugh, 6 minutes from post to "that'll buff right out". Bummer about the truck, but always glad to hear that the driver walked away.

Re: Pics of a crunched 67 swb
Ok, here are my 67-72 chev trucks
This is my 69 model 300 dollar scrap yard driver (just saved from the crusher) This is my 72 highlander rust bucket parts truck and you have seen the crunched one. Now for another Chevy truck (my favorite) This is my 51 model 2 ton wrecker, I use it every weekend. Still has the original 216 6cyl, never been opened up. Smokes a little, but runs like a top. It will climb a tree, but only do 45 MPH downhill. I have the sling for towing cars, jsut not intalled in this pic, I had just used the boom to move a engine. I had about 150 cars and trucks from T-models to cudas, I'm down to about 75 now after selling off some stuff on ebay. My family used to be big into tri 5 chevrolets, so that was the most of my stuff, I still have a ton of that left, mostly parts and parts cars. I also do have some 70-90's models (like the F@rd escort) that need to go to the crusher. Still have lots of the model t stuff, and some 40-50's chrysler products too. Along with 3, 64 and 65 model cudas (one that my parents bought new). You can see the front of a 37 f@rd 4 door sedan in the highlander pic, that car has a fresh flathead in it that purrs like a kitten. I also have a rat-rod lead-slead project 51 chevy 2 door sedan, plan for that one is a 6 inch top chop, and a 350/350 combo, and full hydraulics (we don't need no stinking airbags!). I'll get some pics of that on my webspace pretty soon. I guess you could say I just like old stuff! My favorite pickup though?...the 67-72 chevy...of course! |
