WIW 67 & 72 long step parts trucks??

I went and looked at two pretty rough long step trucks today, I haven't never seen one in person and got to look at two today Anyway both a v8 3 on the tree no power basic trucks. The 67 is suppossed to be his granpas truacka nd been in the family since new and the milage (I didnlt look) is sadi to be original. The cab is a small window 6 lug has decent rear fenders and the front fenders are savagable, doors are iffy, the grill is pushed in in the center just slightly, and the cab is pretty well shot. The motor knocks, and looks like a 307??, but has a good front bumper and the tailgate looks fair from a glance. THe visor are in the cab is clean although the firewall is pretty rough. The other one is a 72 GMC v8 350 3 on the tree, no power. It is suppossed to run, but needs a carb says was rebuilt and has about 25-30K on on it. The front clip is pretty nice and it looks like the grill is good and straight, although it has a little indention in the middle in between the middle and lower bar but it looks stock to me, but I don't know. It has 5 lug, disc brakes, fairly new exhaust, but the rear fenders are rusty on the bottom and the door bottoms are mostly gone, but not past where you could patch them and they are the correct 72 doors.I forgot to mention both cabs floor are really rusty and both cabs supports are rusty as well, the 72 has quite a bit of vior area rust as well. Anyway the guy is kinda hurting and I don't need them , but thought I could part them and make a little $$, so what do you guys think they are worth as parts truck? I would really appreciate any input you would like to share.
Randy

Re: WIW 67 & 72 long step parts trucks??

Id say no more than $500 for both.Probably worth around $250 a piece.I wish I had my long step bed on my 4x4 still at times.

Re: WIW 67 & 72 long step parts trucks??

I dunno,Byrd. That guy can`t expect to get much out of those. At this point,it`s more of a chore to clear his junk than to gain much in the way of parts. The little knick-knacks that you can sell will only pay for your time. Are any of the rear fenders good?If the`67 d/s is good,I`d buy it.Can you pick parts where they sit?maybe, tell him you`ll give him a % from each part, them help him dispose of what`s left.
I bought a`69 C/20 StepSide this summer. The guy thought it was worth $1,000.He realized he was lucky I was interested and took my $500 offer.I bought it for the bed.It had a cap it`s whole life,so the wood was intact. The paint was original, too. The other things I wanted were the complete PowerGlide set-up and a Dana60 coil-spring rear for a pro-street project.Unfortunately the windows had been left down for years and the floor was way gone.Otherwise,it would have gotten restored.

I've bought 2 67s at $300 each and drove them home. $300 to 500 max.

Re: WIW 67 & 72 long step parts trucks??

I'd offer him scrap metal prices for them (whatever scrap goes for local to you x ~4500# apiece) minus the gas to haul them off. Then you can sell the usable pieces and junk the rest.

Re: WIW 67 & 72 long step parts trucks??

Here in southern Indiana, the going price for a truck like that is a little over a hundred complete or near complete.Last time I scrapped a truck, clean steel was $110 a ton.

Re: WIW 67 & 72 long step parts trucks??

I just called the scaprers(sp???) and they said $150/ton. So $250 each tops. I don't think he will take that little for them as ya know they are very desirable trucks he said

Randy,
Please mark me down for the best 2 of the four steps, and the best of the pass. side rear fenders (reasonable to cheap) if you do decide to get them. I hit a HUGE pothole and just about ripped my whole right rear fender off. Have pity on me. hehe Thanks, Mike

I would say 500 for the pair and part those baby's out so that many other trucks can be finished from the sacrifice of two then scrap the rest for recycling.
