Difference between 70 and 72 door?

I have a 72 GMC and am interested in purchasing a 70 GMC door. Are there any differences in the two? I do remember reading about a vent window mounting difference at some time, but It has totally slipped my mind now. Any help would be appreciated.

not sure about gmc but chevys have a small screw that goes though door to the vent window with an indention if that helps and a different door pad I think its thicker. I would think the gmcs would be the same but maybe not??

Window regulators are specific to 72 also as well as the aforementioned door actuators.

1972 window regulator, and latch actuator shafts are longer to accomodate the big plastic door panel.

other than that i don't know.

Re: Difference between 70 and 72 door?

You can swap the guts from your 72 door into the 70 (so the shafts will be correct length. Other than that, you may have to drill a few holes to mount your 72 door panels. The 70 door will not have the screw and indention below the vent latch, but it will still work fine. My 72 has a 70 door on the passenger side.....most folks don't even notice the difference.
