question on valves - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I just went and picked up all my airbag stuff today and noticed there was only 4 valves. I mostly see guys on here running 8 so I asked the guy why and he said there one way valves so 8 arent necessary unless i want to go side to side as well and front and back. Is this true ? will I ahve some body roll issues with the 4 valves only?

You will not go side to side and will have body roll with 4 valves. Not sure why he said they were one way valves. Are you sure he didn't mean they were 2 way valves?

ya im sure he said 1 way i was sure i knew what i was talking about from reading on the board, hmmm probly gonna have to run with 4 for now then up grade i guess

so if im thinking about thsi right one valve will fill both front bags simultaneously and same as the rear?

They probably are one way valves. So that means you will use one valve to flow air in to the front "pair" of bags and one valve to flow air out of the bags. X2=4valves=no control from side to side. The answer is "yes" you will experience body roll with this set up. It might not be bad enough to bother you, but it is not the best way to go.

i'd get 4 more valves..it's alot safer also. that way if something happens to 1 of the fronts, you don't lose the entire front to the ground

What's the difference? If EITHER side drops to the ground you are in trouble.

I haven't got expirience to go with this,but I asked some questions on this topic a couple of years ago and was told that while a 4 valve system is useable,it's not recommended.I was told that if I insisted on using that set up then I should at least use sway bars to minimize the bodyroll.How bad would the roll be?I dunno and I for one am not gonna find out.I'm going with 8 valves and no bar to start with,then add a bar later on to see the difference it makes (I hear it's night and day).

You can also get away with 6 valves because the front is most important due to weight. 8 is best, but if you are tight on funds to start with, you can get 2 more valves for about $60 and make the whole world safer.

ok..so lets say your driving and a bag or line blows on that 1 side. first you put air to that side to help your slef pull over(not both). than to fix it, your still able to jack it up to fix a line if it's along the frame rail.
