Brace for fuel cell

I was looking at the back of the truck where I am going to be installing my fuel cell. It looks like the last crossember possibly the last two will have to go or it wont go in. Is there a brace that you can install if you have to remove the last one?

Skokie, I didn't have to trim or remove anything for my FCG tank. I am not sure why some people have had to and some not. When I ordered mine I just told FCG(mark) that I did not want to trim or remove anything and he built the tank so that it fit perfect and just bolted right in. There is about 1/2"-1" clearance all the way around the tank. Here is a pic of my tank, notice the slope on the rear of the tank as to not interfere with the rear crossmember, is your tank shaped like this?

Re: Brace for fuel cell

It depends on the size and configuration of your rear fuel cell.
I had to remove the rear brace to install my FCG tank.

Checkout this bar from Early Classic - bolt in piece with the hole for the rear lamp harness. Great price

http://earlyclassic.com/catalog.aspx?ProductId=987

I had mine powdercoated to match my chassis

IIRC my tank was about $450 shipped. Cheaper or about the same than the run of the mill tanks the usual vendors carry. I did not have to modify anything, just bolt it in. I even had him set the filler up to fill in the rear stake pocket. I wish I would have had him install it at a 45* angle towards the back of the truck, it just would have been easier to get the filler worked out, but hind sight is 20/20

That is all the pics I have of the tank in the truck right now, but there are plenty of pics in my build thread in my sig below.

I have the exact same setup as Joe (ECE xmember, tank size, etc.), except the peripherals on the top of the tank on mine are diff't.

You may not have to what?
If your tank measures the same as mine, you will need to remove two braces to install it

Isn't that brace a nice piece? They could easily charge more IMO

Re: Brace for fuel cell

I was very surprised how thick it was - and it was definitely of a better quality than their tranny xmember. CPP's tubular tranny xmember is a lot nicer.
