Hi, I have an ex-police car Caprice, I also have a 1982 Camaro. I plan on taking the 1970 Chevy truck's 350/350 out and put them in the 1982 Camaro and take the LT1/4L60E and put them in the truck. What will I need to do to keep the fuel injection set-up to put in the truck? Also, how much do you think it would cost?

remove the wiring harness and ECM from the caprice, to use on the truck.

you will need an electric fuel pump, and will need to run a return line back to the gas tank.

can't think of anything else right now...

I was told that if the distributor is in the back of the engine the swap would be easy, if the distributor was in the Water Pump area, it was going to be difficult. The Dist is in the W.P. area.

I'm putting a 96 in my truck. am in the process of rebuilding it. I'm going to eliminate all of the smog crap. so will need to have the computer flashed (250) and the harness reworked(250).

You can convert a LTI to a standard distributor and carburetor and do away with the electronics, but you would not get the same gas mileage if you were to keep the EFI. The only thing that you would need to use the EFI is the computer and the wiring harness and that is not difficult to set up.

I have heard that a conversion to an LT1 with an overdrive transmission you can get 20mpg and more. That's one of the advantages of going computer control, it keeps everything constant and adjusts for every situation. A LT1 with a carburator is a lot more simple though and GM makes a manifold for the LT1. I am going to put a LT1 in my truck with the EFI and computer.

If you could, would you mind keeping me up to date on it? I want to do the swap also. I have the car and everything, I just have to get the 4l60E fixed, I don't have second gear but that thing really hauls the way it is. Thanks again for your help and answers.

After dealing with the stock ECU and an after market harness for years I finally just went with Painless Hi RPM kit (harness and new computer) and she fired right up

I moved my motor back 2" for a better look and since their is not a rear dist it fits real well into the fire wall. My motor is a 92 vett LT1 and the S.S. tank was built by Fat Fender street rods, intank vett pump and 35gal that should give me about a 700 mile range!
