Temp Gauge

Here's the deal...I'm running vortec heads with a stock water temp gauge. The gauge is ok because it pegs out when I ground it. I have a '96 chevy truck sending unit screwed into the head because the stock one is too large. My gauge is barely registering even when I know the engine is on the high side of operating temp (boy that was fun heating it up). Anyone having the same problem with vortec heads and stock temp gauge??

i would place the 67-72 stock temp sensor in one of the intake threaded holes to get the correct sensor used here. it does have different Resistance designed to work with our gauges.
maybe even a adapter for the threads to use the stock sensor on the heads.
i remember reading somewhere someone was making sensors designed for our gauges. with the smaller threads.

o yea advance auto sell's the replacement sensors for our trucks for about 10.00

please let me know if you find this sensor. because i will be needing one very soon...
hows those vortec heads make your engine run? i am dieing to know?

I'm making 450 hp and 450 ft lbs of tq. It is the strongest small block I've built and I have benn building engines since I was 8 yrs old in my dad's shop....I'm 35 now
