Talking We Have Lift Off!!!

My $500 truck well..I have 650 in it now...but it ran for the first time in 15 years saturday....spent the day making sure everything was okay...clean fuel...new oil...oil/gas mix down neck of carb....rislone had been in cylinders and turned by hand everyday for two weeks....new HEI...wires...plugs...and lift off...smoked like all get out for 30 sec or so...then smoothed out and purred like a kitten...it was amazing...never before have I done something like this and it went so flawlessly on the first try....and SOO smooth after 15 years...it was awsome...hard part done...worrying is hopefully over....ran for 15 minutes then I had to leave...but man..started and killed three times and started easier than my cummins...anyways..I'm excited...thanks for all you help!!

I have to agree with stllookn... there is an awsome feeling when you fire one up that has been dormant for a loing time.

Re: We Have Lift Off!!!

Sounds like you did it right!

Mine sat for 13 years without running. I wasn't nearly as careful as you. A few gallons of good gas, a couple of cans of heet, topped off the oil and put in a new battery. After a few tries, she fired up.

Now I have caght up on all the stuff I should have done (most of what you already did) and she runs great!
