ive got a 71 c10 with a 307 that im installing hei on and i want to replace the old spark plugs but since i am running headers i want to go with the shorty plug so i don't burn my plug boots. i need to know what type of plugs i need i know the plugs in it have a 5/8 hex but thats about all i know about it just wondering what i need i was lookin at jegs but cant decide here the link any feedback would be greatly appreciated so i can get them ordered and instalation underway.

I've always used std length plugs with my headers, and have never had an issue. i guess it really depends on which headers you are running, as some are bent more aggressively (for lack of a better word) than others.

I've found that a good wire loom is a necessity to keep the wires where you want them.

as far as brand, i used bosch for years, but have recently gone back to NGK's using the reasoning:
#1 They're cheaper
#2 If They're good enough to be used by GM at the factory, they're good enough for me.

the accel header plugs will probably be your best bet if the clearance is really tight, while your at it get a set of quality wires. taylor msd moroso etc. stay away from accel wires as they tend to leak a lot of voltage causing misfires and a pretty lightshow under the hood.i always reccomend taylor wires personally the boots hold up to heat very well on the plug side and they last a ton longer than any factory wire and also have a lot less resistance in the wire itself

Taylor all the way!!They make 1/2 the other wires out there anyway.Taylor "IS" wires.I`ve never had headers bend into the path of the plug.The socket may be tight against them and sometimes I`ve busted a plug from that.But either way the socket`s going to be the clearance issue,not the plug.I`d go with any "quality" plug with a higher heat range for the HEI.

^what's the part number on the wires you used?

I just ordered a set for my silverado. The 67 could use a new set too.
