i found this in a box of parts that came with my parts truck and i have no idea what it is

If it's a smog pump, it's probably from California, and they don't like you to have power here - I say, dump it, it's a govenment-mandated part that serves no purpose.

I wouldn't dump it. Someone somewhere is probably losing sleep over wondering how he is ever going to find a smog pump to make his truck "original".

But seriously, I'd try ebay before trashing any part. You never know...

It may be worth something to some one restoring the truck back to original spec. Other than that not much, unless your in a state that is starting to crack down on original equipment emissions stuff. Remember this is a part that alot of people threw away first off of there vehicals so they will someday become very very hard to find. If you have room (yea right I don't), to keep it it may come in handy some day. Other than that kinda worthless IMO just my .02

they come from the factory on the pass side and tie into the passenger side exhaust manifold
