Brake Booster Question

I am looking at replacing my brake booster and would like to go with one that is smaller and preferably flush to the firewall. What I really want to know is can I run a 7" or 8" dual diaphram booster and get the same boost as my factory 11"? Does anyone make a bracket/push rod to replace the factory and allow the booster to be flush or at least closer to the firewall? If not does anyone know how to modify the factory one? Thanx for any help!

Re: Brake Booster Question

I think you have to shorten the factory rod, which isn't that big of a deal. I have seen it discussed.

I too have the same question about the booster though. I don't really like the small ones that make up for diameter by being two times as long...so we'll see what gets posted.

Re: Brake Booster Question

We put a 8 inch on mine, it came with smaller brackets, but we had to lower to center hole on the firewall so the boot would fit through. We also shortened the push rod.

I picked it up at the Good Guys swap met in Pleaston Ca. last fall. I purchased it there because it was cheaper then CPP. You could probably get the same one from CPP.
