Question Stereo head unit

okay I don't really want to cut my dash...I have done ALOT of stereo installs and systems and the like...but I want to go with original looks. So I want a shaft style but they are almost impossible to find...I had a pioneer that I loved in highschool...got it from crutchfield...they have two shaft styles now...and they are CHEAP...what do guys think of the classic stereos you can get now?? like the USA1 and all...has anyone found any other stereos they like?? how about pictures?? I think I'm going to build a custom plate to house two 5 1/4" instead of the 3 1/2" that the one you can buy comes with and put them under the dash...let me see what you guys have done?? don't you love this site?? how do you become a supporter?? any info on that?

Re: Stereo head unit

Try this site... He converts factory AM or AM/FM radio's to modern AM/FM stereo w/ RCA outputs... Not the cheapest alternative but neat and keeps your dash bone stock looking. Saw one at Carlilse a few years ago and it played beautifully.

You can become a site supporter by going here

You can do THAT yourself!

It's a bit involved, but possible...
I have a spare AM radio sitting around I think...

Yes, but it's not an AM/FM stereo. It is a good mod & I plan on doin' it with one for my burb... I have Sirius now & I never listen to the radio anymore.

I personally do not have one of the fella's head units but I did hear them & they sounded awesome. He was playing an old Packard radio that he converted at the show.
