Plane Jane C10

You all know how these things just turn up in my driveway. Kinda plain lookin huh?

Plain my ARSE!

This is member 71see10's and is really turning out sweet and clean! I don't know if he was wanting to be the first to post some of these underhood pics but he shouldn't have opened her up while I had a camera in my hand . An awesome example of what can be done with a minimum $ and a lot of time and sweat. Here's what it looked like previously.

Re: Plane Jane C10

Looks great. Almost the twin to my truck except I don't have the lower trim. Getting a 3.5/5 ECE drop installed tomorrow...that's what he has right? Oh, and did you guys remove the engine to do the detailing/painting or leave it in?

Re: Plane Jane C10

Craig, that is his truck and he still has the rally wheels. I pulled off a beauty ring and slapped on the hubcap when he wasn't looking! I wanted to sepia/black & white it for that retro feel. I didn't realize til later that my neighbors satelite dish was in the background. The drop is a 2.5"/5". He's running drop spindles with a stock height front coil, out back are 5" coils and a super track bar kit. The headers are sweet! They are built for these trucks and went right in there! I don't know the part# but I'm sure he will buzz in here with it sometime soon. He pulled the hood off to paint the underside of it. While the hood was off he also shot the firewall and inner fenders/hood hinges. He loosened the outer grill and tilted it forward so the core support could be painted. When he changed the headers the sides of the block and framerails were painted. He pulled the water pump and fuel pump to replace em and painted the front of the block. This is the kind of time consuming work that makes a truck stand out in the crowd. I don't have his patience for this kind of thing. I have no info whatsoever on the valve covers or breather. Again I'm sure he'll buzz in here soon enough with that info.

Re: Plane Jane C10

Nice detail job for not pulling the engine. I like the looks of those headers too, and would also like to know if there were any of those little issuses with installing them like some brands.

Re: Plane Jane C10

Hedman Elite's #69648 Shorty. They bolted right in,but I shaved a little off the frame near one of the tubes,There was no other clearance issues. As for the valve covers, They came from summit,(Ball milled). The first valve covers were from a Vette. I liked them a lot but they are impossible to keep clean. I also went ahead and added aluminum pulleys in preparation for the installation of my Vintage Air.

according to Jegs, that part number is for 4wd... what is the difference in a 2wd and a 4wd header?

Re: Plane Jane C10

I order the headers from summit, put that part number in on their site,it will give you everything it fits.I had a problem with jegs trying to help me find which ones I needed!!! efi-street-I didnt remove the engine,I just took off everything down to the block, tape it off and used a hole role off aluminum foll,I will post some pic of that later when I can get them off the camera!!

Re: Plane Jane C10

Nice job! According to the specs on the headers they are only 1.5" diameter tubes. I thought you only had to trim the frame if they were the 1 5/8" diameter . I want max performance after I install a bigger cam so I want the bigger tubes but I need to find something that will work with little to no modification. Where did you have to trim?
