Hello im new ay engine building but what is the difference between a flywheel and a flexplate:rndll: :rndll:

FlexPlate = Automatic Trans....FlyWheel= Manual shift clutch Trans.

Physically a flexplate is just a stamped steel plate to connect the torque converter to the crankshaft and a ring gear for the starter to drive.
A flywheel is a lot thicker with a machined surface for the clutch to mate with.

Flywheel is for manual tranny.
