How to Lift About 2"

So, I got the 31x10.5 BFG All Terrain TA’s installed today and they look good. But looking at the truck now, it could use a little lift. I’m just wondering how to go about getting a 2” lift on the truck – the most affordable option. This is not a 4wd, so I do not want to go nuts changing out front end parts, but I think 2” if possible would be nice.

The truck already has a slight lift, with the “heavy-half” suspension – 7-ply leaf springs, heavier front coils – I swapped in a few years back. So to get a little more, I’m thinking of blocks and longer u-bolts in the back, but what happens in the front? Do I go with even bigger springs, or do I need different spindles (obviously more expensive).

So what’s the best solution and where is the best (most affordable) place to get parts?

add-a-leaf about $50 for front and $50 for rear...usually 1-2" that's the cheap option..

Add a leaf to what? I've got coils in front.

ahh...didn't catch the 2WD part... maybe 3/4 ton coils? good luck...

id go one ton front coils and spindles, one ton rears have 8 leafs (aka junk yard) or two inch body lift or you could use hockey pucks

It's been years since I've heard reference to hockey pucks in a lift conversation.
A 2" body lift would likely be your best and most affordable option.They are simple to install,and your steering geometry remains undisturbed.They sell kits for under $100,you'll need to address raising the bumpers,but it's hard to beat kit price by the time you aquire hockey pucks and bolts.and let's face it,hockey pucks are made for playing hockey,not lifting trucks.There's a right way to do things,then there are hockey pucks.

a friend told me about the hockey pucks idea once one day thought id through that in there for a good laugh.

I was also going to suggest a 2" body lift.

Ton coils for the front or spindles are available. Blocks or leafs for the rear.

Okay, I like hockey (I'm Canadian, eh), but I don't want to use hockey equipment to modify my truck...

As for coils and spindles - Are you saying that the coils from a 1-ton would be straight swap for mine. And the spindles - I've looked around (and others have mentioned in other threads) that the lift spindles for 73-87 2wd are no longer being made by anyone. Could you please elaborate or give me details as to what and where.

with a 2WD truck, any change in the front drive height will require a full front end alignement........your camber will be our terribly. make sure you put a couple hundred away for this, and I pitty the tech that has to do it.....there not to pleasent. but then again any caster camber, except for corvettes are unpleasent

Yeah, I figured this would be required - unless I could score a set of lift spindles. But that's why I'm just putting the feelers out for now. This would certainly be "nice to have" but is by no means a sure thing at this stage.
