A pillar rust?

I came upon a truck on ebay that I wanted http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3234&rd=1&rd=1
and it has some rust on the A-pillar and around the windshield. I know from what the owner said that it isn't rusted through - the question is, how is this area typically patched, and is it a tough job?

Any comments appreciated.
Thanks
-Brian

Re: A pillar rust?

im not quite sure how he can say that it is not rusted when the picture shows it? When you remove the window you will find more than you bargained for, as well it looks like the driprail is rusted which means the inside of the cab will also have rust above the rear view mirror. There is an inside patch available but the rest will need to come from a donor cab. Lots of work.

Re: A pillar rust?

So no path panels for the outside of the A pillar?

I didn't type that quite right... he said it is not rusted THROUGH, he said is was rusted, but only on the surface, does that change anything or is it still a bad deal?
Thanks
-Brian

Re: A pillar rust?

The rust that shows on the outside does not look too bad but you would have to have it checked out in person by somebody to see if it is just surface rust or worse. It looks like somebody has taken the wood out of the bed and put in a patch work of metal.

Re: A pillar rust?

my guess is if you pull the windshield the inner pinch weld will be gone. looks to be a fairly straight old truck but i'd be prepared for some major rust repairs. if you're up to the challenge of tackling the rust issues, it looks to be a good project. if you get it, be sure to keep us updated on it's progress.
