292/TH400 w/ Turbo?
I'm really beginning to hash this one out. Swapping my 406 out for a 292 and cramming a turbo and a newage FI setup on it. Anyone else considered this?

Would rate high on the dare to be different scale. But I'm a SBC guy so no personally I would not consider it. It does sound cool though.

Seems everybody has a SBC, so go for it. Can you make a 292 spin the RPM's that gas turbo motors usually like to spin?
And again it is very high on the differetn scale. Jason |

well you really wouldnt need to cram the turbo in, but it sounds like an interesting idea.

I have been thinking about going the turbo route for a couple of years. You must read the Leo Sarducci book. There are so many things to think about. I have a turbo from an old Saab that is about the right size, and fabricated a stainless intake, but that is the easy part. The best way to go is port injection, but I figured by the time I got injectors, a computor, boost retard ect it would be about $2000. I am still thinking about a lower cost option.

If you are not looking for a "monster" then I think its a really cool / good route to go My dad & I are big turbo fans (ha ha, I made a funny) I have a 300-6 ford that I plan to turbo some day & from what we read & the answers we got I need a big turbo (something like the turbo of a 5.9 cummins) but I was planing to be putting out quite a bit of power (something like 300-350 hp) Do your research and make sure that your saab turbo starts making boost at your desired RPM & that it's capable of putting out enough psi for your engines size We also plan to build a 225 slant-6 soon, and boy you better watch out when it's on the road
