Re: Grant Steering Wheel NEW

Gents,

After doing some home work at your request, I found that I had purchased the wrong kit for our year trucks. The P/N 3196 kit is for 74-94 chevy truck with no airbag.
http://www.partsamerica.com/productd...artNumber=3196

The correct kit is P/N 3163. Sells for 20.00 at the store and 2 are on ebay right now for the buy it now price of 14.99.
http://www.partsamerica.com/productd...artNumber=3163
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/3163-...QQcmdZViewItem

I am sorry for the incorrect information.
I will sell the wheel seperate for 85.00 SHIPPED or
You can attempt to exchange this kit for the right one for 95.00 SHIPPED for both.

Again I am sorry for the mix up. Please let me know what you would like to do. I will respect the order of the replies.
Thanks,
Mario

Re: Grant Steering Wheel NEW

FYI.
I purchased A 3163 for my 72 and a 3196 for my Stepsons Monte.
I really wanted a 5163-1 (billet aluminum) for the truck but it was a special order and big bucks.
The diameter of the stamped steel "collar" was the right size on the 3163 but the lead splined hub piece was the wrong size. I tried the 3196 and the splines fit even though the collar was a little larger in diameter.
This allowed me to use the 5196-1 hub. The diameter at the column is a slight bit larger but will fit to the column well. I also put in the small spacer that came with the kit and it does not need it. I will need to remove it.
I will try to take a picture tonight if anyones interested.

fwiw, I'm using the same wheel and needed to adjust the turn signal lever a bit more forward for finger clearance.

Re: Grant Steering Wheel NEW

Thanks, Denny for the practical version of the install. Correct me if I am wrong but you are saying that the collar in the 3196 fits better than the one in the 3163 kits.
Thanks again,
Mario

Re: Grant Steering Wheel NEW

No, the collar on the 3163 is the same diameter as the column. The 3196 is a larger diameter than the column and will sort of go around the column.

I have no Idea why the lead hub in the 3163 kit did not fit my 72. Mine is a factory tilt, this could be a factor?
