1982, need help.

I bought a 1982 GMC 1/2 4X4 recently.

I have a few problems with the guages. The temp guage does not work (need to replace) any suggestions? The battery needle is broken (what should I do)?

Also any one know where to get replacement lenses for turn signals and brake lights?

Thanks,
BRIAN

go to www.chevyduty.com and www.lmctruck.com and get FREE catalogues from both... they'll give you a lot of ideas and wants and needs.... both companys have a ton of parts; chevyduty has things better priced though.

you may try a salvage yard, of course...

1. Check the green wire that goes to the temperature switch thats bolted the block. Mine wasn't working either due to poor connection.

2. You sometimes can find gauges at Ebay, or just post a want in the 73-87 parts board. LMC or ChevyDuty catalogs list gauges too, and they sell the replacement parking and tail light lenses. Before you do that just post in the parts boards. Lots of guys have spare parts.

Thanks for the help, I will check the wires again.

Does anyone here know where to pick up a solid front bumper or if the one I have can be painted? The chrome is chipping off or whatever it is, maybe I could sand blast and paint it? Also what about a good place for a grill.

Thanks again,
BRIAN

parts

i would post a thing here abotu the guages and all here. There are guys who have this stuff and sell them regularly. Im also a big fan of Ebay, as ive gotten alot of stuff for my truck there. As for a bumper, i gotta see i may have one for you otherwise even catalogues like JC Whitney has Fey Bumpers which are fine replacements. I always use them on my fleet of wrecks when i need a new step bumper. As for LMC and the chevyduty parts make sure you price compare and check shipping costs

Thanks again for the help. I will check it out.

Another thing, I am not sure what the correct term is for the the section on the floor closest to the door that has rusted pretty bad. Maybe door sill? Any how what should I do to repair the rusted area?

Later,
BRIAN
