column shift
I am trying to put my shifter back on the column. I got a set of shift arms from a member. I had never seen how these things hook up, so I took it to a retired chevy mechanic. He told me the rods were to short and that I also needed the shift ears that mount on the transmission. It has a hurst in it now. How many different lengths of rods were there?

I'm assuming you have the 3 speed manual? I don't know about the ears. Also maybe 6 cyl and V8 rods are different and you have the other set?

On something like this,it`s best to get everything from one vehicle all together,IMHO.With the right stuff,it can be a pain getting the rods adjusted right anyway.I guess there`s V8 and I6 rods since the trans sits in different places.

does anyone make these rods i have a set but not sure if they will work or how to hook them up and i need the hardware to do it where can i get this stuff

sdkid, I am talking about the 3 speed shifter. I have the 6 cylinder. I dont know if the transmission sits further back than with the v8, if it does it would explain the rods being too short. Does anyone know where to find the right ones?

The trans does sit farther back in a 6cyl. I don't know if anyone supplies the parts or not. Put a want to buy on the parts board, someone is always taking a truck apart.
