Looking for a part

Hello all,

I am the proud owner of a 71 Chevy C10 4x4 with a three speed automatic transmission. It needs some work, but it's getting there. My friends and I just dropped in a new crate motor, new dual stainless exhaust last fall, transmission was rebuilt about two years ago... she's on her way! I have hit a snag recently though and I hope someone can help me.

My transmission started leaking a few months ago, so I took it back to the transmission shop for some warranty repair work. He says he fixed the leak, but he is one part short from getting it back on the road. He describes the part as a reduction gear where the speedometer cable connects into the transfer case. he says it is leaking and that it needs to be replaced, but his normal suppliers don't usually carry that part. I have looked around for it, but it is kind of hard to find something when you're not even quite sure what it is yourself.

I realize this is an ignorant newbie kind of question, but hey... if the shoe fits I will wear it. If anyone can help me track one of these down (or even give me a part number) I would really appreciate it!

If the rebuilder has internet access maybe he could look here since he knows what he is looking for....

Oh, and welcome to the board....

Re: Looking for a part

Thanks for the leads. The sooner I can find this part the sooner I will be back behind the wheel of my baby.
